About the Event

Presented by Ralph Carson RD, CEDRD, PhD There are many misconceptions about binge eating disorder; from assuming that it is always associated

with higher weight … to the false belief that BED is primarily a consequence of gluttony and poor food

choices. Millions of people suffer daily with the inability to control their food intake which often results in

significant medical and psychological complications. The disorder can be triggered by trauma, emotional

upheaval, fat shaming and often erratic dieting. Standard treatments include CBT, DBT, ERP, trauma

informed therapy, size acceptance and a flexible, non-judgmental approach to eating. This presentation

with explore unique and beneficial avenues of intervention (oxytocin, chronobiology, sleep hygiene, food

composition, and medications) that may substantially contribute to long-term recovery. Additionally, the

talk will provide insight on novel neuromodulator approaches for treatment resistant BED.
