About the Event

Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) is a syndrome caused by a mismatch of energy needs versus energy availability. RED-S can impact every system in the body, from the brain to heart to digestion, and each individual’s presentation may differ. The dietitian is generally the first to assess and intervene in the correction of low-energy availability, but every team member needs to know how RED-S may stand in the way of one's optimal health and recovery.

1. Following this presentation, participants should be able to evaluate clients for adequate energy availability to meet needs for daily physiological function.

2.Following this presentation, participants will understand how RED-S the underlying syndrome of common patient/client complaints across the physical activity spectrum may be.

3. Following this presentation, participants should be able to use practical guidelines to help individuals remain in energy balance.
